Organization Overview
Our Vertebrate Genome Laboratory conducts research and services for individual and large vertebrate genome projects such as the Vertebrate Genomes Project (VGP/G10K) that aims to sequence high-quality genomes for all 66,000 vertebrate species on the planet. https://vertebrategenomesproject.org/.
Overview
This position will assist current staff with administrative duties, as well as be responsible for their own tasks relating to managing the Director's schedule and assisting in the laboratory.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Oversee the Vertebrate Genome office and laboratory
Act as lab liaison to the rest of the university and the scientific community (and answering emails in a timely fashion)
Assist Admin Coordinators in producing and resolving invoices for the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory
Assist with ordering laboratory and office supplies for the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory
Manage the PI(s) schedule, including with international scientific consortiums, arranging travel, scheduling and coordinating meetings, activities of laboratory staff and visitors, conferences and special events. Assist Director, laboratory staff, and visiting scholars with completing and submitting travel reimbursement and expense reports
Perform miscellaneous administrative duties as required
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent organizational, time management, and decision-making skills
Ability to maintain high level of accuracy
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat is preferred
