Laboratory / Department Laboratory of Molecular Metabolism
Our lab consists of 15 lab members (Research Assistants, Graduate Students, and Postdocs) studying the molecular basis of obesity-associated diseases. Our studies focus on the biology of white and brown adipose tissue and span from basic molecular and cell biology to whole animal physiology and human subjects.
The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for overseeing lab operations including ordering, budgeting, and maintenance of equipment. Will assist and oversee experiments involving animal phenotyping (metabolic analyses including indirect calorimetry) and bench work, such as molecular biology and biochemistry experiments. Will also be responsible for managing budgets, grants, and ensuring timely spending rates.
Bachelor's degree required; will consider candidates with a Master's degree or Ph.D. Must have experience working with mice, cell culture, and other molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Experience with metabolic phenotyping in mice (glucose and insulin tolerance tests, indirect calorimetry) and cellular experiments (respiration, viral transduction) preferred. Experience with managing budgets, ordering, and other managerial tasks strongly preferred. Must have strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
