Rockefeller University Research Assistant (Salary Range: $46K-$50K) in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant (Salary Range: $46K-$50K)
Laboratory / Department Wahba Laboratory
Our lab is dedicated to understanding inheritance mechanisms that transcend the transmission of DNA sequences. Our initial efforts will focus on small RNAs as an experimental paradigm to study nongenetic inheritance mechanisms; to do this we will use the established nematode model Caenorhabditis elegans as well as develop additional nematode species as a meta-system to understand how nongenetic processes impact evolution at the organismal (i.e., phenotypic) and molecular (i.e., genetic) levels.
The Research Assistant's responsibilities will include both bench work and bioinformatics. Benchwork includes plate pouring, manipulating C. elegans and basic molecular biology (PCR, cloning, DNA & RNA purification, etc). Bioinformatics work involves analyses of RNA-seq libraries, DNA variant calling and comparative genomics. The Research Assistant will also be responsible for ordering supplies & equipment for the laboratory, chemical & biohazard waste compliance, and repair of equipment. Targeted salary is $46,000 to $50,000.
Bachelor's degree required. Prior laboratory experience required; Bioinformatics skills are preferred.
