Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Integrative Brain Function
The Maimon lab aims to link the electrical activity of neurons and the biochemical action of molecules to their computational roles in animal behavior. The lab has a particular interest in understanding how central brain structures, distant from the sensory and motor periphery, govern behavioral choice.
Looking for a research assistant to help with neurobiological experiments on fruit flies. Experimental tasks will primarily involve technically sophisticated behavioral experiments to assess the nature of spatial memory in Drosophila. Basic fly genetics will also be performed. Additional tasks may include immunohistochemistry, neural imaging, and/or assisting in single-cell RNA sequencing experiments.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in biology, chemistry, or physics preferred. Experience writing basic code in Matlab or Python is a plus. Must have a genuine curiosity regarding animal and insect behaviors. Must be willing to troubleshoot experiments independently and demonstrate high attention to experimental detail.
