Job Title Research Assistant

The basic approach of our laboratory is to use mouse models of neurological disease to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which neuronal function is disrupted in Alzheimer?s disease, Parkinson?s disease, stroke and other neuropathological conditions.
The Research Assistant will assist with experiments investigating the role of vascular dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathogenesis. AD is a fatal cognitive disorder that results in extensive neuronal cell death, which may be caused by increased blood clotting, blood vessel occlusion, and inflammation. Responsibilities include mouse behavioral tests, perfusions, surgeries, mouse brain sectioning, Western Blotting, and immunohistochemistry. Will also be responsible for mouse colony maintenance, including genotyping, breeding, and weaning.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in neuroscience, biochemistry, or molecular biology preferred. Previous experience in bench work, mouse handling, and immunohistochemistry (perfusion, sectioning, and histology) required.
