Department Description

Our Laboratory pursues a combination of biochemical, molecular, and genetic approaches to define the checkpoints that regulate B cell development, antibody production, and B cell tolerance. The second area of interest is in dendritic cells. Our interests range from the earliest phases of the B cell pathway, including the commitment to becoming a B cell through the completion of maturation. Our ongoing work includes a focus on mechanisms of V(D)J recombination, somatic mutation, isotype switching, allelic exclusion, and tolerance.

Detailed Description

The Flow Cytometry specialist will join members of the Nussenweig Laboratory in performing cell sorting for important experiments with top-notch post-docs and grad students for publications in high-impact papers. Will assist investigators in designing and analyzing flow cytometry projects in a research environment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting software, instrumentation, and applications relating to immunophenotyping, responding to customer service issues by gathering and analyzing data, and distinguishing between hardware, software, and/or training issues. Our instrumentation includes two BD Aria Cell Sorters, two BD 5 laser A5 Cell Analyzers, and a new S6 Cell Sorter.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in science and flow cytometry experience required; educational emphasis in chemistry, physics, or engineering preferred. Strong computer skills, excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are required. Must be organized and able to manage and schedule appointments with a variety of lab personnel.
