The DDRC is participating in a multi-University anti-viral drug discovery consortium which brings together experts in various fields of drug discovery in order to discovery new and better drugs for emerging viruses of pandemic concern. The Research Support Associate will perform experiments for anti-viral drug discovery, including assay development, high throughput screening, determination of structure-activity relationships, and mechanism of action using biochemical and biophysical techniques. Will be responsible for maintaining proper calibration and functioning of high-end instrumentation.
Bachelor's degree required; educational emphasis in biochemistry, biophysics, protein chemistry, or drug discovery preferred. Must have experience with measurement of enzyme activity, biophysical measurements of ligand-receptor interactions (such as isothermal calorimetry), surface plasmon resonance, and microscale thermophoresis. Must possess a practical knowledge of biophysical or biochemical techniques. Excellent communication and team-building skills are required. Must have a proven ability to work collaboratively with users, be detail-oriented, and have high-priority management skills.
